The one-step was a popular ballroom dance of the late 1900s to about 1920. It was a more "modern", streamlined rag,
with broadly syncopated melodies. It was also a favorite for song forms as well. This modern version of the one-step is written in the traditional style, and gives the effect of an entire band created by the saxophone quartet. It was composed in 1993, as a saxophone quartet original. Keep the tempo moving close to a half note = mm132-138 for the best results. A smooth, "golden" classical tone is preferred. Score included.
