This rag is a celebration of God's greatest gift, the gift of salvation by undeserved grace. Composed in 1993 originally as a saxophone quartet work, this concert rag has three distinct strains reflecting as many ragtime styles: The Introduction and "A" section is a melodic fanfare and thematic development; the "B" section is more reflective and contemplative; the TRIO or "C" section is an expression of pure ragtime joyousness. The tenor saxophone is given the melody in the first part of this last section, a fanfare is heard again in the break strain and the celebration concludes with the last repetitions. Remember- ragtime is not jazz, and should be played "straight", with no swing feel, but with plenty of pep and energy. A smooth, "golden" classical tone is preferred. Score included.
